Andrew

Andrew Kinsey (bass) began his musical career as the youngest bagpiper in his hometown of Lexington, MA. As a teenager, he was a devotee of Boston’s famous folk radio station, WUMB; during college, he began playing guitar, and tried stints in a steel pan band, an early music choir and a short-lived whistling band. In 1991, he co-founded Salamander Crossing with Arbo, and he has been performing with daisy mayhem since its inception. A bass player, singer, songwriter and champion of other maligned instruments alongside the bagpipes (including the ukulele and banjo, both of which he showcases in daisy mayhem), Kinsey’s musical and humorous sensibilities inspired the band’s debut CD, Cocktail Swing, which romps through vintage country, swing and jazz chestnuts. He lives with his wife and two daughters in Ashfield, MA, where he also works as a house builder.
